Wanderlust: Iceland Illustrated
This hand-drawn map, overlaid with breathtaking landscape photography, makes it difficult to wait much longer to visit Iceland: Iceland Illustrated. Luckily, we’re headed there in September!
Airfare to Reykjavik is still fairly affordable these days, with plenty of direct round-trip flights on Icelandair from DC in the $600 range. However, I hear that the most expensive aspects of a trip to Iceland are the eating – portions are small and often pricey, if you’re not grabbing something quick to-go – and the activities, if you decide to do adventurous organized events like snowmobiling or whale-watching tours. A friend who went there on his honeymoon lent me several Iceland guidebooks, so I’ve at least got time to read up beforehand. Iceland is becoming a popular honeymoon destination lately, and with its singular majesty it’s no surprise why. I’m sure it’s a photographer’s dream, too.
